ABOUT THE FILM
A HERO’S JOURNEY – NO STRINGS ATTACHED
“Hilarious!”
Globe & Mail
Andrew Buckles has a dream. An enthusiastic master of a musical instrument that gets little respect – the air guitar – Andrew is determined to compete in the World Air Guitar Championship held each summer before an audience of more than 3000 spectators in Oulu, Finland. This endearing and witty documentary follows Andrew as he attempts to raise money for his epic journey: from bake sales and to busking (aided by his boom box), while also carefully refining his nimble-fingered technique. Ultimately, Andrew’s quest takes him to Finland — where he discovers many other extraordinary air guitarists . Let the games begin…
“Just watch this marvelous story ….and learn that air guitar is a beautiful thing.”

Andrew “Air Raid” Buckles AKA Air Canada
Andrew grew up in a large suburban house in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. As a child Andrew would crawl though the extensive duct work system in the house. He would find his way though the air ducts to the vent and hiss down at his parents dinner friends from above. Later on, in elementary school, Andrew witnessed some high school kids playing air guitar to a Def Leppard song. That was the day Andrew became fascinated by the air guitar. He thought “it’s a perfect instrument, no cords, no amp, no strings, nothing to get in the way of expressing yourself.” So ever since grade five Andrew has devoted much of his life to the air guitar.
Since the making of the film Air Guitar in Oulu, Andrew has become passionate about the environment (and more importantly making money to cover alimony for his bastard child “Air” – yes the child is called “Air”) See Air Guitar as a profession is not as profitable as one might think so Andrew has gone to work as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) chief co-coordinator for a large Canadian construction company. Andrew is currently awaiting the death of aging rock star Axl Rose so that he may release his already complete tribute album.
